 I wanted to work in the name of my favorite album, Strawberry Jam, so I'm trying to act as if it's the concert debuting this album. I don't know what else to include because at this point, if you don't know the band and the album, this poster doesn't convey how Animal Collective sounds. Any ideas?

Inspiration: Typography.

  Not only is it an awesome way to use letters and muted colors....but it's a stamp! In reality it's soap. I was googling "soap molds," "shaving soap," and "molding soap" for a drop cap....but came across this!  I think it's adorable and would be obsessed if this was in my bathroom.  In addition to making me clean, it would be awesome to use this as a stamp.  The rounded edges could allow you to roll the bar over and over to make stripes and change direction midway. Awesome.

     After getting my Lomography Actionsampler I've been getting back into film photography.  It's pretty exciting to get the phone call from Camera's Etc. saying that my prints are ready.  (I almost got kicked out yesterday when I stood there for ten minutes while I looked through the roll and took up too much space at their counter.)  I've been thinking about the other types of cameras out there that have this "pictorialist" sense, where the photograph is more of an art in itself, than just any photograph.
     This camera is similar to the one I have but instead of having 4 frames it has 3.  I think this would be really interesting to use to sports or architecture because of the way information is distributed on the print.  I feel like the viewer looks at the two smaller images and can wonder what is happening on the rest of the field, or behind that building, where this camera then reveals more information in that third frame.

 This is progress on my radial poster after it got chewed alive for (not) being a Christian band.  It's electronic dance music, i just don't know why the cross is their trademark.  ...but Do either of these titles work?

    

 Does it feel like Christian rock? or rock n' rave, nyc concert?

March 5th, 2010 - Inspiration

I want to make my poster for a group called Sigur Ros, who I've had an on-going love for throughout high school, until now.  One of  their albums is named ( ) and is made up of eight untitled tracks.  The first half has a lighter sound to contrast the last four songs that embody a more melancholy mood. The words are made of random, meaningless syllables, as to bring more focus to the music as a whole rather than the meaning of the content as words.

I want to work with the parenthesis somehow in my dilational poster....we'll see.

Flash Forward

Last weekend I went to Micheal's and for 1$ I bought coasters for my apartment.

CRAZY....it's the original, the real-live advertisement used to make fun of ourselves today! New definition of "going green" = using old advertisements, for new products; Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.

OH WOW.

I found these two pieces and died a little inside.

Numero 1:

The coolest, most unbelievable pen in the world. Basically, the sprout inside the pen grows and wilts according to the amount of ink left in the pen.  Definition: Green.

   I also found this photograph which is something I have never seen before.  The exposure is so low that you can barely make out the image at all.  With barely any contrast the image is practically two-tone.  Yet when you recognize the texture of the tree and the rest of the image comes out....it is such an awesome photograph.
